

Joshua was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 1, 1982. He graduated from Gardendale High School in 2000 and was a dedicated member of the Marching Blazers while attending UAB studying music education. He was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi band fraternity.
Joshua had a passion for music, reading, and animals. He played tuba in high school and college, concert and marching bands, and tutored students. He was always listening to music, especially from Broadway shows. He got his love of music from his mother, Gayle, whom he went to many shows and concerts with. He read constantly and was trying his hand at writing a novel. He and his sister have five dogs who were a constant recipient of his love and care. Joshua was the go to person for helping family members solve their computer problems.
Joshua had a big heart and could strike up a conversation with anyone. His family and friends miss him terribly.
Joshua is survived by his father John Jansen; his three sisters Cari Jansen, Heather Jansen and Jodie Ortman (Jansen); and his two nephews Jeremy and John Ortman.
Joshua is preceded in death by his mother, Gayle Jansen.
A visitation will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 from 1 to 3 PM followed by graveside services at 3PM in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
