

Kathleen Smith Miller passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at age 96. She was born in Sandusky, AL on December 15, 1923 to the Rev. Thomas F. and Bertha Raines Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas E. “Tommy” Miller, Sr., her son Jack D. Miller and her sister Dorothy Oaks. She is survived by her four sons, Thomas E. “Ed” (Linda) Miller, Jr., Donald R. (Doris) Miller, Charles R. (Sarah) Miller, James D. (Debra) Miller and daughter-in-law, Maureen Miller; nine grandchildren, Carole (Karl) Kaetz, Danny (Rhonda) Miller, Keith (Billie) Miller, Debbie Howard, Ken (Sonya) Miller, Forrest Miller, Zach (Andrea) Miller, Kathryn Miller, and Keith (Joanne) Miller; a host of great and great-great grandchildren and extended family.
Kathleen and Tommy enjoyed many years of retirement on Lay Lake in Wilsonville. More recently she resided in Gardendale. She was a lifelong Methodist with membership at Sandusky, Wilsonville and Mt. Olive United Methodist Churches. She enjoyed a long and rich life always surrounded by family and friends. Everyone she met became a friend.
A graveside celebration of her life will be held at Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale on Thursday, August 27 at 10:00am. Arrangement’s handled by Ridout’s Gardendale.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Covenant Place for their loving care and support over the past 10 years and to Hope Hospice for their kindness and attention during the past month.
