Leroy Gambrel

Leroy Gambrel, born June 10th, 1926 in Bell County, Kentucky passed away peacefully Saturday evening, November 2nd, 2013surrounded by his family. Mr. Gambrel was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 51 years, Alta Bargo Gambrel; a son, Terry Gambrel; grandson, Zachary Jones; great granddaughter, Addi B. Russell; and 14 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving sons and daughters, James Gambrel, Rhonda Russell (Ralph), Gwen Reid, Tom Gambrel, Patricia Hughes (Phillip), Karen Bost (Billy), and Sharlyne Battle (Calvin); his grandchildren, Brian Russell, Ben Gambrel, Rachel Gambrel, Cristy Mosley, Devon Hale, Myles Reid, Nick Gambrel, Mallory Merkel, Ashlyn Bost, and Caleb Battle; great grandchildren, Evan Parker, Kaleb Boyles, Brodie Russell, Jack Gambrel, Mollie Hale, Anna Scott Gambrel, Zachary Merkel, Max Hale, and Henry Gambrel; one sister, Ruby Hensley.

Mr. Gambrel served his country proudly in the US Navy during WW II and was a member of Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 5th, at 11 AM in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel will direct.
