Mary Carmelita Gilmore

Mary Carmelita Gilmore of Mt. Olive, AL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday April 24, 2017 at the age of 76. Carmelita was born in 1941 and lived most of her life in Midfield. Carmelita was a graduate of Ensley High School and was a member of Wilks Baptist Church in Midfield. Carmelita loved Elvis Presley and was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. She enjoyed spending time with family and she had a beautiful smile that would light up a room.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Helen Walker; her daughter, Donna Gilmore; sister, Bennie Shipley, and her mother and father-in-law, Mildred and Frank Gilmore.

She is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Maurice Gilmore; five children, Jeff (Myra) Wallace, Greg (Tanya) Wallace, Sherrie (Murray) Simpson, Dennis Gilmore, and Dana (Donnie) Henley; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with a visitation on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral service, Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00am followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
