He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee McDowell and Edna Bennett Hogeland, step mother Doris Thomas McDowell, brothers Don and Dan McDowell, and a daughter, Heidi Norris.
If you knew Mike, it doesn’t have to be said what a good man he was. If you don’t, his life read like a story book. Throughout his life, he was hailed as a hero, a smuggler, a partier, an entrepreneur, devoted family man and the best friend a person could have.
Mike did everything harder than is generally advised. He was a workaholic, partied as hard as he could when he could, loved without bounds and would give a stranger everything he had if they needed it. He loved his children with a passion and obsession that was unparalleled and protected his entire family by whatever means he felt was necessary, inside or out of legality.
Mike will be missed by people all over the country.
He is survived by his wife, Sheena, daughters Laura (Brendan) McTear, Michaela McDowell and step-daughter, Samie (Daniel) Logan, his sister, Judy McDowell, brothers, Kenny McDowell, Barry Hogeland, Gary Hogeland, stepbrother John Cain and stepsister, Candace (Don) Palmer, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life at his home in Corner at 2 pm on May 24th. All his friends are welcome. Mike hated suits, so please come as you.
