Robert "Bobby" Glenn Crocker

Robert “Bobby” Glenn Crocker from Gardendale, AL, born in Pasadena, TX, passed away on October 18, 2024, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL, after a brave battle with Leukemia. Bobby was a dedicated and hardworking individual who began his career at Piggly Wiggly in 1972, eventually rising through the ranks to retire as a supervisor in 1999.

In 1976, Bobby met the love of his life, Barbara Hodges. They married on November 26, 1976 and enjoyed 47 wonderful years together.

Bobby was an avid hunter and fisherman, relishing the start of hunting season. He and Barbara shared a passion for camping, exploring as many states as they could, reaching as far as Colorado. A talented self-taught woodworker, Bobby crafted many cherished items for family and friends. He continually remodeled their home, most recently building kitchen cabinets and transforming their space with shiplap walls. One of his most delightful creations was a mountain cabin in the side yard, a testament to his Love for the outdoors.

Bobby also enjoyed gardening and decorating their yard for all seasons. His beloved dachshunds, including Gobo, Skuttles, and his faithful companion Lotto, brought him immense joy, especially during their time spent outside together.

Bobby is preceded in death by his father, Robert Hosmer Crocker, and his in-laws, Edgar Ira Hodges and Mary Ruth Hodges. He is survived by his cherished wife, Barbara Crocker; his mother, Doris Crocker Jackson; his sister, Nancy Rhodes; as well as numerous beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at UAB MICU for their compassionate care during Bobby’s final days. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of life for Bobby will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Hwy, Gardendale, Alabama 35071.
