Robert Jeffrey Miller

Robert Jeffrey Miller, age 55 of Gardendale passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014. Jeffrey was a wonderful and loving husband, father, son, brother, and a friend to many who will greatly miss him. He was a firefighter for the Birmingham Fire Department for over 24 years and died as Battalion Chief. Jeffrey also taught at the Fire College in Tuscaloosa, AL and was a member of the Fultondale Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gilbert Hurst. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 20 years, Laura Hurst Miller; his sons, Colton Douglas Miller and Hunter Bradley Miller; parents, Robert Douglas Miller and Magdalene Adams Miller; mother-in-law, Sylvia Hurst; his sister, Milla Kaye Miller Blumely (Ed) and their daughter, Skylar Blumely; brother-in-law, Lynn Hurst (Debbie Flippo Hurst) and their son, Craig Hurst (Lauren) and daughter, Hayden Hurst; sister-in-law, Kathy Knight and children, Jon Christian and Dakota Knight; sister-in-law, Pennie Carter (Jeff) and their children Kelsie and Wesley Cater; sister-in-law, Melinda Szegedi (Lali) and their son, Luke Szegedi; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, firefighters of the Birmingham Fire Department, and many friends.

A visitation is planned for Wednesday evening at the Gardendale First Baptist Church South Campus from 5 until 8 PM. Funeral services will follow there at the church on Thursday beginning at 11 AM. Interment will be in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Ken Marrs will be the minister on the service with Brad Adams and Ed Blumely as additional speakers.
