
She began her career working for South Central Bell, then BellSouth, and ended up doing contract work for AT&T after her retirement from BellSouth. She spent 33 years with BellSouth before retiring and "trying" to live the retired life. It was not successful and she began to work part-time at Fujicolor processing. When her mother became sick with Alzheimer's, she stopped working to care for her full-time.
She suffered a series of strokes that resulted in her developing vascular dementia in her mid-sixties. She remained independent until the age of 74, at which time skilled care was required and she entered a nursing home.
Survivors include her beloved daughter, Pamela D. Terry, and one brother, William Herbert Cate.
Preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Adelle Cate, father William Adolfus Cate, and her sister, Billie Ruth Conroy.
Services will be on Thursday, April 21 at Ridout's Gardendale. The viewing will be at 1pm and funeral service at 2pm in the chapel. Burial to follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
