Remembering you Spencer, your laughter and kindness.

I just learned about Spencer's passing today and was so heartbroken for his family.  A positive thought I took away was a gentle reminder of how important it is for all of us to be kind to one another and be supportive of each other as well.  This journey, no matter how long, is too short, we must respect it.

I read where it was said that Spencer always had a joke in his back pocket, which is so spot on!  Spencer always saw the good in everything, he was an outstanding team member who was always there to help you.  

I know he is with God and is probably helping organize some kind of event for the good of all mankind.

My deepest, sincere condolences to everyone, because if you knew Spencer, you were pretty close to being family :)

We all are so sad and feel brokenhearted since you’ve gone to be with our Heavenly Father. 
You were part of a special circle of friends. This I will always treasure. I’ve always considered this Circle part of our extended family over the last 30 +years. 
Because of you & your circle, 
our families intertwined becoming part of each other’s lives building life long friendships. 
Beginning playing sports with CP Steelers Football, CP Baseball, Clay Youth Football & Baseball through High school, college you all have remained constant with one another. 
I loved being your Team Mom over those years, I literally mean this with all my heart. Each of you have and always will be like a son to me. 
I feel so blessed to have been part of your life  Spencer and having the honor of watching you and your friends grow up and becoming men of integrity and seeing you marrying the love of your life Brooke and bringing life into our circle with your beautiful children; Grayson, Sydney and Ellie. 
Spencer, We love and miss you already, Until we meet again…

I met Spencer at Wells Fargo in 2016. I saw the “Armor of God” diagram at his desk and knew a Christian stood before me. We often talked about God, our kids, baseball, football, and the corporate world among many topics. He kept the room positive when we were around him. He quickly supported any volunteer event I threw at him as he cared about impacting others through work in the community.  Over the past year, I could never tell how his life was drastically changing because he wanted to know how I was doing. We will never forget his Godly presence on this earthly world.

A. L. Smiley’ 100 birthday brought around 100 family to the Fremont Inn at Bryson City, where Master Spencer (age 3?) was the center of attention on the terrace.

He was wearing a new one piece jumper with many pockets in which he had stored his most recent treasures. As he pulled out a colorful pebble from one and an interesting looking ‘nut’ of some sort, he shared his discovery with a dozen smitten adults!

Lastly, he extracted a Hersey Kiss,  warm but still in the silver wrapper and expressed surprise that it had not held-up as well as the nut or pebble😳 He ate it anyway to the immense pleasure, approval, and entertainment of his audience!

A most charming, intelligent and lovable child that became just such a man🙏

We were leaving softball practice on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We were anticipating our debut as a new travel ball team. I was walking alongside Brooke and Spencer. I commented how I liked Spencer’s red coaching shoes. Simultaneously, Brooke and Grayson were not a fan of the red shoes. I think I recall the word hideous being used!! Spencer remarked that if he was going to help coach the Mafia and their colors were red he was going to go all out!! As I left them to go to my car I thought all the way home of Spencer’s words. “I’m going to go all out if I’m going to do something.” This was from a man who had just been told he had brain cancer. He spoke boldly and confidently…I was so inspired by his fierce boldness that I purchased red coaching shoes for myself. Time isn’t a guarantee but while we are in the moment we have been given to go all out… 

Spencer Brown always having a good time. My guy was always prepared to play the hot corner in softball. 

From one Vol fan to another…John bought me a Tennessee gator and when I got it all I could think about was giving it to Spencer. Vol fans in Alabama are difficult to find. I gave him mine and ordered another one for myself. It’s a simple reminder of a man that I knew briefly but in that short time I knew of his humor and love of life. 

Rusty, Alan, and friends created the First Annual GFFL Blitz Cancer event for Spencer. All the players wore Tennessee orange socks. We will always remember and honor Spencer on this day. 

New Years Eve at Top Golf with friends. I’m certain Spencer won. 

We are so thankful that God blessed us with one more trip to the lake this summer. We will never forget it. 

We loved our annual couples lake trips. Spencer was always busy - fishing off the pier before anyone else was awake, whipping up a huge breakfast for everyone, making everyone laugh with his latest tricks, gadgets, or jokes, or being DJ during the cornhole tournament. 

Spencer and Brooke were a power couple, dominating all athletic competitions, including cornhole. We had annual summer trips to the Duke Family Lakehouse where of course lots of cornhole was played. 

I remember Spencer as one of the Best Young Man that I have ever met .I coached him several years at Centerpoint Ball Park! All I can say is God needed another Angel in Heaven, Prayers for his Family an Friends may God comfort us in our Time of need .
