William Kenneth McCormick, age 79 of Mt. Olive was called home on Monday, August 30, 2010. He was retired from Standard Oil Company and Hamilton Parts. Ken was a Korean War veteran serving in the navy on the destroyer USS Ozbourn (DD-846). He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arthur McCormick and Flora Stubblefield McCormick; sister, Wenona Villadsen and daughter-in-law, Karen McCormick. Survivors include his sons: Bill and Jim (Debra) McCormick; grandchildren: Johnnie, Kimberly (Scott) Roberts and Justin McCormick; great grandchild, Hudson James Roberts; sister, Faye (Ken) McRae; brother, Bob McCormick and a host of family and friends. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2010 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetic Association.
