Albert Otto Emil Wolbrueck, 95, of Georgetown entered into rest September 2, 2011 in a local care home surrounded by his family. He was born December 11, 1915 to Otto and Marie (Stoll) Wolbrueck in Georgetown. Albert was a life-long resident of the Georgetown area. Albert was baptized on Feb. 20, 1916 in St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg, he was later confirmed in St. Peter on Nov. 23, 1930 with John 5:24 as his selected verse. He served his country by entering the US Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he returned to farm the land he loved. He was also the Past Director of the Bluebonnet Nursing Home in Granger. Albert was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church; he joined Christ Lutheran Church in 1947 and served on the Church Council and Building Fund Committee. His family remarked that Albert was the “Official Greeter” at church because he arrived for worship an hour early and had a kind word for everyone as they arrived. He was also active with American Legion Post 39 in Taylor for 66 years, and the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. Family was very important to Albert, he was a devoted caregiver to his parents in their declining years. His leisure time would find him pursuing various interests, but two in particular; he loved to read his bible, at his passing a well-read bible was found at his bedside and playing dominoes. The family recalls how Albert could block anyone and knew what you had in your hand after only a few plays.
