

AW Tanksley was born on March 29, 1944 in Georgetown, Tx to Jessie Lee Tanksley(King) and Hilliard Tanksley Sr. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather, and adored by all who knew him. AW committed his life to Christ at an early age. He dedicated 32 years to Georgetown ISD and was well known as a helping hand around the community. He enjoyed watching his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys and Western movies and shows.
AW passed away on February 15th, 2026 at the age of 81. He was a resident of Round Rock, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters-Helen Dunbar, Deborah Riley, Hazel Hatcher, Betty Collins, and Lola Tanksley. 3 Brothers: Rufus Tanksley, Hillard Tanksley Jr, Oliver Tanksley as well as 2 Grandkids Desiree Glover and Taytum Putman.
A.W. Tanksley leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 19 years, Jean Tanksley. 2 sisters Mollie Sabb and Bedelia Hatter. 9 kids Jerry W. Tanksley (Davia), Janie W. Tanksley (Sykes), Jamey W. Tanksley (Rebecca), Jesse W. Tanksley, Jeff Tanksley, Shalandra Glover, Shavonn Johnson, Tatiana Putman (Tristan) Tanisha Dias (Nathan). 11 Grandkids Anthony C. Tanksley (Audrey), Taporsha Tanksley Wonitowy (Mike), Travis Tanksley, Elizabeth Alderete (Tanksley), Tamara Wyatt, Rayne Johnson, Tristan Putman Jr, Ayden Hanson, Malachi Dias, Tayleb Putman, Melody Dias. 4 Great-Grandkids Kynadic Thompson, Genesis A. Tanksley, Cyrie Shanklin, Prince Wonitowy.
