Shortly after his accident, he met the love of his life, Kelly. They were married in 1996. Drew continued his adventures with Kelly and her three children, Joshua, Joel and Kelsey. Drew worked as an accountant with the State of Texas before retiring due to his disability. Drew enjoyed boating, coin-collecting, and trading on eBay. He loved flying drones and loved talking about them with anyone that would listen. Drew had a special relationship with his grandson, Jonah and was extremely proud of Jonah’s exceptional talents in skateboarding, scouting, playing the saxophone and his musical talents.
Drew will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, quick wit and his playful sense of humor. He was very tender hearted, generous and kind to those who were suffering. Drew especially had a great sense of empathy toward his spinal cord injury community.
