Charlie developed a love for all types of mechanical work at a young age. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of cars, farm machinery and most outdoor power equipment. He started by helping maintain the family 1966 VW Bug and 1965 Cadillac. Later, he enjoyed the challenge of working on his own fleet of vehicles and equipment.
He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Grade School in Homewood, IL until 1971 and graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor, IL in 1975. He then attended Prairie State Community College and then Northern Illinois University where he received both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Business. Despite not studying engineering, he found his way to the profession and worked as an engineer for 35 years, researching and developing various sensor technologies, most recently for Texzec, Inc. When not working, he relished an opportunity to take a long road trip, most often to visit family and friends. He never met a stranger and was always eager to help anyone in any way he could.
He married Bernadette Brand in 1981. They divorced and he married Dianna Clemens in 1990 and they moved to Jarrell, TX. He is survived by his wife Dianna, his daughter Shelby (Lance Burch), his sister Catherine Bremigan Kaspar, his brother Cary D. Bremigan (Jill), his parents-in-law Patrick and Jennie Clemens, his sisters-in-law Jean Wallin (Phil), Dawn DeGraf (Bob), a brother-in-law Gary Clemens (Billie Jean) and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles and his brother-in-law John (Jack) Kaspar.
A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 393 N. Interstate Hwy 35, Georgetown, TX 78628 on Friday, December 5th at 2:00 pm. Friends and family are welcomed.
