

Dr. Robert Warren Gamble, 95, a longtime resident of Georgetown, Texas, died Sunday, April 17, 2011. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. A service celebrating Robert’s life and his faith will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel with Tim Curtis officiating. Interment will follow at IOOF Cemetery, Georgetown, Texas. Bob was born January 23, 1916 in Evangeline, Louisiana to the late William Gamble and Willie DuPuy Gamble. After high school Bob attended Lamar University and Rice Institute on a music scholarship. He studied at and graduated from the University of Texas Dental Branch in 1940. Dr. Gamble practiced dentistry in Georgetown from 1941 to 1993. His office overlooked the Georgetown square; and from his window there he saw the love of his life, Arline Skaggs. Bob and Arline were married in 1953. They were longtime members of the Georgetown Church of Christ. Dr. Gamble enjoyed playing the trumpet and was a member of a polka band in the Georgetown area for many years. He was very involved in the community for many years, serving on the Georgetown ISD board and receiving the distinction of “Man of the Year” in 1981. Bob was an avid gardener; his vegetables fed his family and neighbors over the years. Bob was an excellent woodworker, constructing furniture and other fine wood products that his family and friends will cherish for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 50 years, Arline Skaggs Gamble; his brother, Paul Gamble; his sister, Isabel Baker. Dr. Gamble is survived by three daughters, Patricia Smith and husband Ron of Broomfield, Colorado, Susan Woolsey and husband George of Denton, and Paula Pearcy and husband Tom of Fairplay, Colorado; two sons, Bob Gamble and wife Bobbie of Marianna, Florida, and John Gamble and wife Debbie of Sugar Land; two sisters, Winnie Graves of Silsbee and Nora Watson of Sandusky, Ohio; four granddaughters, five grandsons, one great granddaughter and two great grandsons.
