

John Robert Wiley, 82 of Florence, TX., passed away at home May 11, 2012 surrounded by his family & friends. He fought a sudden courageous battle of cancer. He was born Dec. 24, 1929 in Florence. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marie Wiley; his sister, Dorothy Frist of Florence. 3 children, Patricia Wiley & husband David Hyman of Coral Springs, FL.; Mark & Debbie Wiley of Liberty Hill, TX.; Guy & Joanne Wiley of Lakeway, TX.. 4 grandchildren, Wendy Wiley Pleak and husband Luke Pleak; Jaclyn Wiley, Jace Wiley, and Kiley Hyman. 2 great grandchildren, Hailee Wiley and Dyce Pleak. Also many loving in-laws and nieces and nephews. John started serving in the US Marine Corp in 1947. He then worked construction painting for 45 years, along with farming, ranching and gardening. John loved his garden and is known for giving away his abundant bountiful vegetables. John had many cherished friends and neighbors. He also loved to tell jokes. We will never forget that twinkle in his eyes and hearty laugh. The family wishes to thank his caregiver Mary Helen Venegas who watched over John the last year in a very comforting and dedicated way. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 6 -8 PM at Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown, (393 N. I35). Funeral services will be held Monday May 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. Interment will follow at the Florence City Cemetery.
