Pete Lopez Martinez III, passed away peacefully at his home in Leander on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the age of 54. Born on September 18, 1970, in Austin, Texas, Pete was the beloved son of the late Pete Martinez Jr. and Gloria Lopez. He was a proud 1990 graduate of Travis High School. Throughout his lifetime, he worked as an independent carrier conveyor. He also dedicated several years to Austin ISD as a facility maintenance supervisor, where he took pride in his work and the connections he made along the way.
Pete’s legacy lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his sisters Betty Rangel, Diana Martinez and brother Michael Lopez; his nieces Denise Rangel, Melissa Flournoy, Gabriella and Maria Martinez, and Laura Mendez; his nephews Tito and Edward Rangel and their families. He leaves behind his sons Justin, Jeremy, and Jared Martinez; his daughter Kylie Martinez Rios and his beautiful grandchildren, Arianna, Emma, Carolina, and Ezekiel Martinez, Jeremy Martinez Jr., Justin Martinez Jr., Hernan Rios Jr., and Sebastian Rios.
Pete was a fighter, facing his battle with kidney failure with unwavering strength. Despite the hardships and exhaustion, he found solace in the things he loved. He enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys and trying his luck at Bingo. But above all, his greatest happiness came from time spent with his family. Whether it was weekend visits with his grandchildren, quality time with his loving sisters, or the many family gatherings at his niece’s home, Pete was always surrounded by love. He was present for every milestone, every small moment, and every shared laugh.
Though his passing leaves a deep void in our hearts, we find comfort in knowing that he has been welcomed into Heavenly Father’s arms, reunited with his beloved parents.
