Reverend Scott Mikkelson, a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Austin, died on April 16, 2026, at the age of seventy-two. The son of Ronald and Evonne Mikkelson, he was born in the town of Blue Earth, Minnesota on December 18, 1953.
Reverend Scott Mikkelson attended Assumption Seminary in San Antonio and Holy Trinity in Dallas. He was ordained on September 11, 1982. Rev. Scott served at various parishes in the Austin Diocese: St. Mary in Lockhart, St. Joseph in Bryan, St. Louis in Austin, St. Julia in Austin, Holy Trinity in Llano and its mission of St. Joseph in Mason, St. Mary in Caldwell and its mission of St. Ann in Somerville, St. Mary in Mexia, and St. Mary in Hearne. He also served as a US Air Force chaplain from 1986 to 1990 in the United States, Europe and the Middle East. Rev. Scott retired in 2007.
Reverend Scott Mikkelson is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Evonne Mikkelson and his brother Douglas. He is survived by his sister Sheryl Schnitzler.
The funeral Mass will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church, on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 10:00AM. He will be interred at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery on a later date to be determined.
