
Weldon Roy Buchhorn, 73, a native of Williamson County, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 6PM to 8PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown. A celebration of Life and Thanksgiving will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, 6001 FM 1105, Walburg, Texas, with Pastor John Davenport officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Weldon was born on May 19, 1940 in Thrall, Texas to the late Ernest Carl and Minnie Louise Patschke Buchhorn. He was baptized in Thorndale at St.Paul Lutheran and confirmed at Zion Lutheran on April 15, 1956. Growing up Weldon greatly enjoyed working on the family farm with small animals like chickens, ducks and rabbits surrounding himself with them brought him joy. After attending school both in Granger and at Zion Lutheran School, he moved in Georgetown where he worked in the food serves industry. Weldon's work in the food services industry ended at Southwestern University in the late 1990's, since then he has enjoyed socializing at The Madella Hilliard Neighborhood Center. It was a daily treat for him to go have lunch with his friends and try to win a game of Bingo, Dominos or a friendly game of cards. Weldon will truly be missed by all his friends at Madalla Hillard and his family. Weldon is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Minnie Buchhorn, his sister, Mabel Smith and his brother Harold Buchhorn. Weldon is survived by his sister, Vernell Sagebiel and her husband Gayle; his brother, Calvin Buchhorn and his wife LaNell; along with numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends. In Lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg, TX, Madella Hilliard Neighborhood center in Georgetown, TX and Scott and White Hospice, in Temple, Texas.
