Barbara Jean Crow was born on June 19, 1946 in Providence RI. . In her early childhood she lived in Rhode Island traveled to several countries as well as cities within the US. Her father was enlisted as a SR. Non Commissioned Officer in the military and thus she traveled wherever he was stationed. She enjoyed her time as she learned about the various cultures. In her teen years her family settled in Southern California. She graduated from Glendora High School and was a participant in the Miss Glendora pageant. She lived the remainder of her life in the San Gabriel Valley area.
She worked for Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora for over 35 years. She saw many changes take place over that Time. She was well liked by everyone she worked with and participated in helping improve the patient experience as well as the visitors to the hospital. She helped staff adjust to the changes over the years to make the staff experience better as well.
Barbara set out on a lofty goal in the early 1970’s where she trained to become a Reserve police officer
for the City of Alhambra. She was considered an expert marksman when she graduated the police academy. She was only one of 2-3 woman on street patrol in LA County during that time. Officers would come from the surrounding cities to see how she was doing and find out how to start recruiting woman in their police force. She served from 1977-1983 and retired as a Sargent of Patrol.
In her retirement years she enjoyed spending time with family and catching up with friends. She enjoyed shopping and had a love of animals especially dogs. She had over her lifetime many rescue dogs
as pets. She was an avid reader and would read many books a month.
Barbara was preceded in death by her Father Master Sargent John Loyless and her Mother Olga Caporaso Loyless. She is survived by her husband William D. Crow and her sons Michael and Sean Bilbrey, Her step sons William Paredes and his wife Carmen and Steven Parades. She is also survived by her step grandchildren Billie Parades, Grace Parades Doran and Kevin Castillo. A funeral service will be held in her honor at 9:30am on Sept. 16th at Riverside National Cemetery.
In lieu of Flowers the family has requested that anyone wishing to make a donation to any dog rescue group. Barbara loved animals and had a very strong affection toward dogs. We feel this would be an excellent way to honor her memory.
