Edward Joseph Behounek was born in the heart of Chicago. Edward was a man of profound character—a loving and caring provider who believed that love was best expressed through action and presence. As a husband, father, and grandfather, he was the steady anchor of his family. He was famously strict, guided by a deep-seated belief in integrity, hard work, and discipline. He didn't just want his children and grandchildren to succeed; he wanted them to be people of substance. His high expectations were always matched by his immense heart, ensuring his family never lacked for support or a sense of security.
To Edward, sports were more than a pastime; they were a mirror of life itself. Whether he was cheering for his beloved Dodgers or Lakers he never had a dull moment. He found beauty in the hustle, the strategy, and the resilience of competition. He taught his family that you play the game of life with everything you have, you respect the rules, and you never, ever quit before the final whistle.
His hands were weathered by years of hard work, a testament to his commitment to providing a better life for those he loved. He found joy in the simple things: a well-played game, a dinner surrounded by family, and the quiet satisfaction of a job well done.
He is survived by his devoted spouse, Deborah; his children, Lisa, Eddie, Megan, Julia, Brian and Jared; and his five grandchildren, who will forever carry his lessons in their hearts.
