Mrs. Genevieve Ann Casillas, 71 year resident of Baldwin Park, passed away peacefully in her home on June 22nd, 2020. Born in Rawlins, Wyoming, on July 26th, 1924, Genevieve Ann Lopez moved to California after graduating high school and worked at Lockheed Aircraft Company as a riveter during World War II. She married Bart M. Casillas on March 11, 1948 and spent a wonderful life with him until his passing shortly after their 50 year anniversary. Survived by her five children- Marty, Patricia, Elizabeth, Yvonne, and Bart- ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, “Genny” will always be remembered for her easy going and comforting nature, her homemade tortillas, and love for her family and the Dodgers. We can all attest that after spending time with her, whether talking or just sitting quietly watching TV, you left her home feeling cared for and better about your day. She watched over each and every one of us and taught us what it means to be strong-willed, resilient, and selfless. Almost 96 years old, she lived her life simply, with purpose, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
