Glenn Polzin passed away suddenly on January 30th, 2021 in Covina, California, two weeks after undergoing spinal surgery. He was born on October 21, 1951 in Seattle, Washington. Glenn was the second child out of four born to Kenneth Polzin (deceased) and Vivian Polzin (deceased).
Glenn is survived by his six girls, wife Terri Durant Polzin, daughters: Candace Polzin, Melissa Polzin Anderson and Amber Polzin, granddaughters: Alli and Sienna Anderson. Glenn is also survived by his siblings: Doug Polzin, Pam Astengo, and Randy Polzin. In addition, he is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as the Durant families. He is also survived by his long-time best friends Dave Harrington and Keith Henry as well as Tim Gleason and many other close friends.
Glenn spent his first years living on Whidbey Island in Washington. When he was five his family relocated to Covina, California. Sadly, his father passed away when Glenn was 10, leaving his mother to raise four children on her own. Glenn was a proud graduate of South Hills High in West Covina, the class of 1969. In the summer of 1973, he was introduced by Penny Schaffer to the woman who would become first his friend, then his wife. On July 4th, 1976, during our country’s bicentennial celebration, Glenn married his sweetheart Terri Marie Durant in Las Vegas, Nevada at Cupid’s wedding chapel. They were so dirty from the long motorcycle ride and getting lost that the officiant did not recognize them when they cleaned up for the actual ceremony. This union lasted for 44 years until Glenn’s untimely death and produced three beautiful daughters.
Glenn joined the Durant family business in 1979 and was going to retire at the end of this year.
He was looking forward to a new chapter in his life. Because of the pandemic, Glenn and Terri spent more time together planning their future, but it was not meant to be. Glenn loved golfing, motorcycle rides to the beach to listen to his favorite bands, and to be served cold beer by his favorite bartenders, and his twice a week “safety meetings” at the Rude Dog. Glenn loved his routines: Friday night date nights at Elvie’s with Terri, Saturday breakfast with the granddaughters, Sunday was donut and golf day. He was a kind man with a gentle calm nature.
Because of the pandemic rules constantly changing and many of us still being unvaccinated, the services will be private. His burial will be on April 10 at 9:00 am at Oakdale cemetery in Glendora. The service will be streamed on Facebook using the Oakdale Cemetery page in Glendora. We hope to have a complete celebration of Glenn’s life in October when we can include everyone safely.
