John was born March 28, 1929 in Highland Park, Michigan to William and Olive Rowe.
John graduated from High School in January 1947, but before he entered college in the fall, he had a diving accident which resulted in a lifelong handicap. While his body was handicapped, his spirit was not. After several surgeries and supported by loving parents and younger brother, John moved forward in what was to be a wonderful and productive life. John's sense of humor and commitment enabled him to be content with his handicap and proceed through life "un-handicapped".
During the early years of recovery, John met a wonderfully caring woman who would later become his wife. John married Margaret Jean Anderson on September 10, 1955.
John attended Walsh Institute of Accountancy in Detroit 1953 - 1956. Walsh would have a special place in his heart as a launching pad for a successful career in Accounting.
In 1956, John and Margaret moved to Azusa, CA. John worked at two different companies in their accounting departments before joining Oltmans Construction Company where he worked for over 32 years. The relationship with Oltmans would result in great professional success for John and deep, lasting friendships.
John was active in the lives of his three children and in the community. His service to the community included writing the weekly Little League Baseball stats for the Glendora Tribune, serving on the Board of Foothill Presbyterian Hospital, and serving on several committees at Glenkirk Church.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret, son David (Laurie) Rowe, daughter Patricia (Chris) Moss, son Steven Rowe, and grandchildren Aaron Moss, Audrey Moss and Adam Moss.
His death is preceded by his parents, William and Olive Rowe and his younger brother William (Len) Leonard Rowe.
Special thanks to Visiting Angels who enabled John to remain in his home in his later years. Also thanks to those from Citrus Valley Hospice who cared for both John and the family during the final week. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations, in honor of John, to be made to Citrus Valley Hospice 820 N Phillips Avenue, West Covina California 91791.
Arrangements under the direction of Oakdale Mortuary, Glendora, CA.
