Najla was born on December 3rd 1928 in Jezzine, Lebanon to Said and Chafica (Helou) Kamar. She was the oldest child, and sister to Marie (Maroun) Helou, Maroun (Salma) Kamar, and Souraya (Edward) Jabbour. She married her first love, George Serhal, in 1945 and moved to Beirut, Lebanon, where they raised their three daughters and two sons: Lody (Nicolas) Skaff, Tanios “Tony” Serhal, Afaf (Paul) Kolo, Joseph (Grace) Serhal and Rita (Viken) Berghoudian.
Najla and George immigrated to North America in 1979.
Najla loved the LORD and her family above all. She used to always preach to do what is right and do what is good, and she did as she preached. Najla had a good saying for every situation, a talent she passed on to her daughter Lody. She was a living example of her favorite saying, “Wash your face, you never know who will kiss you; organize your house, you never know who will visit you.” She is survived by her 5 children, 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and predeceased by her beloved George Serhal and sister Marie Helou.
Her services are under the care of Oakdale Memorial Park and Mortuary in Glendora, California (1401 S Grand Avenue, Glendora, California, 91740) and will take place on Monday, August 24th 2020 at 9am.
