Salvado Casillas. “Chavita”. He was my cousin,  his dad and my mother were brother and sister. I did not meet him until I was about 9-10 years old when he came to the United States and soon he became our favorite older cousin.  He would visit us almost every weekend and we would stay and watch Sábado Gigante, have dinner with us and after the show he would say his goodbyes. I remember he always made time to try to talk to us - my brothers and sister, but at times we were shy, I have to admit. He was always family oriented and I knew that when he had his own family he would be a great dad. Later, life drifted our families apart, but Chavita (and Sylvia) always remained neutral. For that big heart I will always remember him. 

I share this memory with love.

Compa Sal will forever live in our hearts. He leaves a great legacy of values and support. His dancing and love for family and friends gatherings will always be remembered.

Dear Casillas family,  we are your neighbors and friends,  my fondest memory of Sal is how we met, my wife had locked herself out of the house one day, and Sal being the helpful person he is offered to help my wife without hesitation,  he took of the screen from a window and boosted a young Able through small window, Abel then unlocked the door for Lyn.  Since then our friendship has grown, over the years Sal took me under his wing and tought me a everything I know about marksmanship.  He was always there for us kind and generous,  I will greatly miss my friend and neighbor Sal.  Rest in piece my friend.

Sal was always respectful, kind and cared for his family a lot. I could see it when I baptized Ozzy.  He was always smiling and the first thing when he would see he would say Hi Prima.   He had to much energy since he loved to dance from the beginning to the end of a party.  He was a little set in his ways but that what made Sal.  You could also see how much he love my prima Sylvita.  My brother took the black -white picture and I the colored one. These photos we took captured their love for each other.    May he Rest In Peace with all your love ones in Heaven

Our family will miss you greatly. As we all know you were the life of the party. We could always count on you and prima to be at any family function. I admire your love for family. I also admire your happy go lucky smile. Rest in peace primo. You will be greatly missed.

Sal, He was a great guy. I remember that when I first started to come around the family and the party events that we were attending, I would sit off to the side bc i didn't know anyone, he would come over doing some Goofy dance move & wouldn't stop until I got up  & socialize with every one. Thanks Sal going to miss those fun times. 

My fondest memory of Sal are the Dance offs we would have.  Boy did he have some moves. I remember getting so hyped up when my mom would tell me we would be attending a “Villegas/Casillas” party. I’d look for my comfy shoes because I was determined to outlast him on the dance floor. I would study all his dance moves because I knew if I could dance like him, I’d be the life of the party too. I still use his dance moves from time to time. He was a true classic!!! I will never forget you Sal your smile and energy are engraved in my heart. Dance in Paradise❤️

Some of my best memories of my Tio Sal is that one that this guy could dance his heart off like he would be the first one the dance floor till he is the last one there was no stoping him once my dad and tio manuel started to play 80’s music his dance moves are legendary and will live forever. As long as I could remember my Tio who always had the little kids dancing and wanting to dance with him and his signature dance moves “ I still remember the time i was dancing with him when I was little and I told him I was tired and my feet hurt and I remember him telling me Oh no you have to keep going like this and that is when he would do his little spins. My tio was honestly the best he had a big heart he always made sure my cousins and tia had the best he could provide no doubt about that. My tio was also a big kid at heart I remember always coming over either for trick or treating getting my haircut from bianca or even just to hang out and spend a night as soon as I would walk in their house most of the time I would see my Tio sitting down on the couch playing video games Halo as a matter fact and I remember him explaining what the guns he be shooting with like the names or even the strategy of the game and honestly half of the time I was confused because I didn’t know much about video games but there I was supporting my Tio having him talk to me about it. I always told my tio that if there was ever an zombie apocalypse that his house would be the first one to go to with the guns he had I knew no one would mess with this guy. I know my tio left such a great impact on everyone in his family what can I say he was a life of the party his legend will always live throughout my cousins and his grandkids. Im glad to have an uncle like him in my life and be lucky to have the times I spent with him when I was able to.

Dearest Casillas Family, my name is LinTan.  My brother, Sheldon and nephews, Alex and Ben, are your neighbors.

Working downtown at Police Headquarters, it was not uncommon to run into Sal outside the criminal court building or police headquarters trying to get the next BIG story.  Whenever, I saw him ouside Police Headquarters, I would go downstairs, walk up to Sal, gathered among his media cohorts, and say out loud, "Sal, you're under arrest." It never got old.

But Sal at heart was a humble family man at heart...also, a renaissance man who could shoot the heck out of a paper target at the gun range and also had a mean green thumb with a great backyard garden as proof.

Sal, you will be missed.  I like to think you are taking the journey to the heavens above on your bicycle.  Pedal hard and get to the finish my friend.  And don't forget to look down once in awhile and check on those left behind.
