Stan,
You officially welcomed me into the Hudson family in 1983 when Jeff and I got married but unofficially you welcomed me into the family when I was 12 years old and I would come to hang out with Teri in hopes of seeing and spending time with Jeff.
Meal time was always an experience growing up at the Hudson house with large meals and any # of friends showing up. Taco night was a favorite.  My first taco night I couldn’t believe how many tacos were prepared and they looked yummy.  I sat next to Stan, at the head of the table.  After the blessing I looked over to him and he had that familiar grin on his face. Kaos ensued and the taco plate was empty. I learned the phrase….you snooze, you lose, every man for himself! Carolyn made tacos for Stan and I and now no one finds me waiting to pass the food!
Before we got married, I surprised Jeff with a golden retriever puppy, Cajon.  He was our first baby.  Jeff took him everywhere and he was well trained except for 1 small issue…when left alone he had a fetish with chewing the garden hose!  One day, Stan told me to check the hose on the patio. There was only a 12” piece of hose.  Stan said he had run out of room to put on the hose end because Cajon kept chewing the end every time he put a new hose bib on. He wasn’t mad and couldn’t stop laughing as he was telling me.
My first trip with the Hudson clan was pheasant hunting in Bishop. Carolyn yelled and I was showered with pellets. This was a first for me and I thought “boy do I have a lot to learn.”  Then asked me to carry two pheasants back to the car which I did at arm’s length the entire way.  Another first.  The last thing I learned from him about camping is…when your stay in a camper  you have to fall asleep first.  I had never heard someone snore as loud as him.I could go on about fun times koas at Christmas, Stan’s Santa hat, Santa Anita Race Track, yearly Bishop trips, breakfast at Schat’s Bakery...  I will miss his sly grin, soft chuckle and twinkle in his eyes.



Dear Dad;
I would like to thank you for the way you raised me. You provided me with a good home and all the necessary skills I needed to make it on my own. I would like to thank you for being my mentor, coach and financial advisor, all tools that helped me become successful in life.
I appreciate all the times we shared together but the following stories are my most memorable; 
First, during the late seventies when both of my brothers, you and I worked for Collins Food Service.  Sundays were the best when all four of us would drive in together and open up the warehouse for the evening shift.  This was quality time for all four of us, and reminds me of how hard you worked to provide for us.
Second; during the mid-nineties (94-97), when you volunteered for the US Forest Service at Cobalt, Idaho.  This was a very special time for me as we shared a duplex for 3 months each of those summers. The things we did together; firewood cutting, fishing, bugling elk, hunting grouse and just hanging out was so very special to me that I will always remember them. This time allowed me to get to know you as my father and a friend at a level I had not experienced before.
Third, from 1999 to 2009 I would like to thank you for the annual two weeks we would spend together in Bullhead City fixing up your rentals. The time you, Roy and I spent together provided me with a sense of accomplishment and allowed me to see how great a sense of humor you have and how much you enjoyed life.

My favorite memory of Grandpa is when he attended one of my soccer games and he yelled "Put Hudson in she'll score!" to this day I can still hear his voice saying those words. There were other times when I asked him what his cane was for,  he looked at me and responded " It is for me to be able to hook donuts with." that would make me laugh every time.  Although he lived  states away,  he never missed any manger events in my life. From graduations to countless sporting events. He called every birthday and without a doubt he would ask me "Jessie what are you going to have dinner? Mac and Cheese?" he ask because he know that is my favorite meal. He was always patient, kind, and extremely loving. I never felt anything but happy around grandpa, I will miss you. Grandpa you will forever be in my memory and heart.

I remember the first time you took me to Bishop.  You and your friends had built this place up to be a paradise vacation spot.  It was a very small isolated country town.  I have since learned to love Bishop as you did during the many fishing vacations and hunting trips over the years when we could only afford to camp out and fish or stay in Schroeber campground  as we did during pheasant season.
I remember the thousands of baseball and softball games I sat through watching you coach our sons and help with our daughter’s teams.  I remember the time Jeff got hit in the mouth playing shortstop with a hard hit ball and how after we returned from having the dentist fix his  braces  you made him go back to the park and field ground balls.  It worked.  He did not become afraid of the ball.
I remember your giving up your dream of owning your own business in order to go to work in a job that paid enough for us to live on.
I remember how you insisted on a fishing rod for our son Chris’ 2nd birthday and took him fishing in what would become a lifetime habit, not only for the firstborn but for the rest of the kids as well. 
I remember how the many outings inspired Breck to pursue a career in forestry so he could spend his life working outdoors.
I remember the trips to grandchildren graduations, especially the year we were at a Texas graduation on Friday night and the next day we were in St. Mary’s Idaho for another graduation. Then there was the Friday graduation in St. Mary’s and the next day’s graduation  at Cal Poly San Luis Obisco.  I remember the weddings and graduations in 2015, Feb in Idaho, March in Texas and March in Hawaii and back to Idaho for a June graduation.  You were a trooper though all of these events.
I remember the trips to Bishop every November for the last twelve years with the family and your brother and sister, nieces and friends; sometimes twenty of u and sometimes only 8 or 10.  We will go there again in Novembe

Sorry to read of your loss....you likely don't remember us, but we met you at the Montreal airport when you came for a concert. You stayed at our home in Peru, MY. Again, sorry for your loss.


From the first time Breck brought me home to meet the family I knew Stan was a special man!  He must be pretty special to have had a hand in raising such an awesome family! Through the years as Breck and I began to build our own family Stan was always there.  He was a silent partner in the background always there to help with financial advise and babysitting out at Cobalt (spending summers with us at an out-station in Cobalt, ID).  I've never heard Stan get mad or yell, he was always patient, loving, and kind.  His dry sense of humor, which fortunately he passed down to Breck, always kept us laughing, right down to the  end with "Is that the chicken?"   Early on he gave our oldest daughter a nickname "Hailmiester"  which stuck throughout her sports years and Jessica, our youngest daughter loved having grandpa on the sidelines yelling "put Hudson in she'll score" and she did.  Through the last 15 years I've seen Stan deal with some health issues.  He never complained or whined, I admire him so much for that.  Stan as a father-in-law I couldn't have ask for a better one!  You will be missed and I love you very much!!   Cornie

To my Great Uncle Stanley... thank you for always opening your arms to your extended family.  I will forever remember the trips and gatherings with you smiling and laughing with family.

To my Uncle Stanley, i will remember you as a kind, loving, and funny Uncle.  From fishing and hunting, to swim parties at Grandma Porter's, you were always there with my Father, being the rocks of our Families.  That kind of stability is priceless.  Later, in my young adult life, you (and Aunt Carolyn) were there for me in such a way, i will never forget.   Thank you.  Your Nephew Scott.

When I was 9 years old, I saw my grandpa go through one of his biggest battles recovering from a massive stroke. Through his recovery process, I got to help him with these little exercises and activities issued by his physical therapist. Little did he know that watching him on his road to recovery would help me find the path and passion for my future. Because of my grandpa, I wanted to become a physical therapist when I grew up. I am so grateful and happy he got to see me live out the dream he inspired. Thank you grandpa for helping me find my calling. Every patient I have helped and will help is because of you. I love you and may you Rest In Peace.

I saw how hard you took the passing of your brother, your mother, your father, your daughter and recently your best friend and that showed me what your family meant to you even if you didn’t always talk about it.
Thank you for encouraging me to play sports because they reinforced the lessons (you don’t always win, hard work pays off, if you don’t ever go for it you can’t lose/fail or win, success is best when you have someone to share it with, trust in others…) you taught me growing up.
Thank you for coming to watch me play sports and always being there for me. May you rest in peace.
