

Verna Rittgers passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6th surrounded by her family. She was born November 14, 1919 in Minnesota. She traveled to Los Angeles to work for cousin, Dr Edwin Schneider, after completing business school in Minnesota at 18 years of age. She and husband, Kenneth Rittgers, and children moved to Glendora in 1954. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired in 1984 after 25 years of assisting customers in the Glendora Post Office.
She is survived by younger brother, Raymond Henslin of Yulee, Florida, and younger sister, Viola Silbert, of Des Plaines, Illinois. She is also survived by her son Darrell Rittgers, and daughters Ruth Kidd, Barbara Rittgers, and Roberta Rodman and son-in-law Larry. She was blessed with four grandchildren (Chad and Michael Christensen, Kariann Bernstein, and Jeffrey Rodman) and four great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Rick and Liubov and staff at Mauna Loa Oaks in Glendora, for the loving care, respect, and compassion shown to their mother, Verna.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 19th at 11AM at Oakdale Memorial Park, 1401 S. Grand Ave, Glendora, CA. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30AM to 11AM.
