Born Monday, January 24th, 1983 in Davenport, Washington to David and Penny Desautel, Leon Graduated in 2001 from Lake Roosevelt High School in Coulee Dam, Washington where he was a member of the "Raiders" Football, Baseball and Wrestling teams. However, Leon's favorite high school class was "Auto Shop" under the tutelage of teacher Steve Hood, during which they built a "Stock Car".
Following graduation, Leon and Steve Hood would work together for several years building and driving super stock and modified stock cars at the "Eagle Track Raceway" in Republic, Washington as well as other area raceways.
To fund his love of racing, Leon worked as a Journeyman Electrician, working out of the "IBEW Local 191" hall.
A member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville, Leon enjoyed hunting, fishing, target practicing and just spending time with his ever present doggies. Leon's times of greatest enjoyment however, always held the background music of a high performance engine: Whether under the hood, hands covered in grease, tinkering with the engine on his beloved lime green 1971 Chevy Camaro to get just a little more speed, or taking long rides on his motorcycle with friends.
Leon is survived by his father: David Desautel; mother: Penny Desautel; sister: Misty Dudley (Brad); niece: Chelsea Dudley; grandmother: Shirley Bly girlfriend: Victoria Heilman and his K-9 Companion: "Zeke".
A funeral service for Leon will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Keller Community Center, Keller, Washington. Graveside services will follow at Keller Community Cemetery, Keller, Washington.
