Annie L., as she was so affectionately called by most, attended George Clem High School and worked as a Food Service Manager at Greene Valley Developmental Center until she retired.
After her retirement, she dedicated herself to the church. She was a faithful member of Jones Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church. Here she was a deaconess, President of the kitchen committee, member of the Stewardess Board, Member of the Trustee Board, former Secretary of the Sunday School Class, Class Leader, served on the Usher Board, overseer of the Ministry of Kindness, member of Club #3, and a very faithful member of the Missionary Society.
She was also a member of the Negro Women’s Civic Club.
To many people in the community, she was best known for her straightforwardness.
Survivors include a daughter: Geneva Miller (David) Greeneville, Tennessee; son: George William “G.W.” Conner of Olympia, Washington; 2 grandsons: Dion J. Miller (Esther) of Johnson City, Tennessee and Mike Anderson (Vanessa) and family Greeneville, Tennessee; grandchildren: Cynthia Carr, Cathy Pinkney, Edward Pinkney, Iris Williams, Latanya Conner, and Kendrick Delain; niece: Teena Mitchell; nephews: John Arnett and son, John P. Arnett “John John”, all of Greeneville, Tennessee and Robert Arnett and family of Ohio; her extended family: Virginia Robinson, Wayne and Warren Horton, Dorothy Black Harris, James, Carla, Alyssa Mayes and Trey Mayes, whom she had a special bond with; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John and Annie Conner, a sister, Georgia L. Mitchell (Harold), and her husbands, Chester Conner and J.C. Hamilton.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 10:00a-1:00p at Kiser Rose-Hill Funeral Home. Homegoing Services to follow in the chapel at 1:00p.
Interment after the services at Graceland Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be A.J. Hamler, Jerrell Hamler, John P. Arnett, James Mayes, Trey Mayes, Josh Rader and Jody Knuckles.
Honorary Pallbearers are the men of Jones Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, Arlin Bowers, Donnie Hamilton, Wayne Horton, and Warren Horton.
