

He was retired from Magnavox and was a farmer.
Mr. Gilland was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church and attended as long as his health permitted. He was a dedicated Christian and enjoyed reading and studying his Bible.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II with the Pacific Fleet; a member of the VFW Post # 1990; a member of Roby Adult Center, where he was an avid pool player; and a member of the Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years: Billie Ruth Ruble Gilland; “His Boys”: Winston Tweed and wife, Brenda Sue, Leonard Kirkpatrick and wife, Kathy, Monte Kirkpatrick, Terry Kirkpatrick and wife, Lois, all of Greeneville; stepchildren: Judy Ruble Valent and husband, Andy, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tommy Ruble of Hampton, Virginia; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law: Tyson and Jeanetta Gilland of Kentucky; sister: LowDuskey Marshall of Greeneville; a sister-in-law: Nancy Adams of Greeneville; and his special friends: Tammy Stachowski, Mary Sue Riddle, Ruby Whitson, all of Greeneville.
He was the son of the late John Wesley and Emma Gentry Gilland and was preceded in death by his first wife, Tennie Gilland; a son, Mack Hugh Kirkpatrick; a stepdaughter, Phyllis Ruble Edwards; and four brothers, Mavil, Jacob, Robert and Jimmy Gilland.
The family will receive friends 4 – 7 pm Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 7pm in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Tommy Melton, Rev. Buster Shelton and Rev. Bobby Ricker will officiate.
Interment will be 11 am Thursday at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The Greene County Honor Guard and the U. S. Navy Military Honors Team will conduct a military graveside service. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:15 am Thursday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark, Shawn, Ben and Brad Kirkpatrick, Jeff Tweed and Tim Marshall.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Shane Tweed, Ricky Kirkpatrick, Steve Banks, staff of Signature HealthCare of Greeneville, staff of 3rd and 4th floor at Takoma Regional Hospital, Dr. Daniel Lewis and staff, and Dr. Kenneth Susong and staff.
