

He was born October 26, 1926, son of the late David and Lola Hamilton.
Daniel was a veteran of WW II having served in the army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, and fought in the Battle of Okinawa. He returned and started Hamilton Trucking Company where he was the owner/operator for over 30 years.
He attended Beulah Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Roger Scott and Russell Lynn Hamilton, and a daughter-in-law Karen Towe Hamilton.
Mr. Hamilton is survived by his wife of 58 years: Gladys Waddell Hamilton; a daughter and son-in-law Regina and Ned Cox of Gray. Two granddaughters; Chasta Hamilton Calhoun of Raleigh, NC and Alexis Cox Arnold of Knoxville, TN; and a grandson Alex Cox of Johnson City, TN. He also is survived by a sister, Charlotte Hamilton of Columbus, Ohio and several nieces and nephews, and very special friends, Otis and Edith VanDyke and Paul and Joan Fincher.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8pm prior to the funeral service at 8:00pm on Monday, July 11, 2011, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. Pastor John Rogers will officiate.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15am Tuesday to go in procession to GreeneLawn Memory Gardens for a 11:00 service.
Pallbearers will be Alex Cox, Ned Cox, Brian Arnold, Shane Waddle, David Bailey, and Ronnie Rednour.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Young-At-Heart Sunday School Class of which Daniel was a member.
