David W. Selmeski’s factory warranty expired on Saturday January 13th 2018. His engine had undergone extensive maintenance and his body benefited from numerous aftermarket parts. He was a unique model, produced by Frank and Evelyn, coming off the line in New York on September 10th 1942. After a break-in period at Pleasantville High School he took excursions to Penn State and New York Universities. He had a brief lease with the Federal Government, then joined Frank and his brother Gene in the family repair shop. Dave shared a garage with Beverly (Hume) since November 1974. They had three sub-models, Brian, Scott, and Shawn. He also hosted international models over the years from Ecuador, France, Hungary, and Germany. After retiring from daily driver status, he was certified as an antique in 1998. Beverly and Dave then made the big trip – together with his inventory – from New York to Tennessee. He set up a new workshop in Greeneville, and was well valued in the local used car community. His sub-models had five scale models of their own: Amelia and Joaquin, and Maggie, Maddox, and Miles (Rachael). They, together with Beverly, were his pride and joy. Always generous, Dave ultimately chose salvage over junk status. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Greene County Imagination Library, where Beverly continues to put in elbow grease, or First Presbyterian Church, where Dave will be memorialized Tuesday January 16th at 7:00 pm.
