Elsie Vivian Smith

Mrs. Smith was a retired caregiver.

She was known by all for her kindness and loving heart. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. She loved to garden and would always share with friends and neighbors.

She also was blessed by a beautiful voice and loved to play the piano at church and fellowship with her sisters and brothers in Christ, but her greatest pride and joy was being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Her children always loved to tell others that she had a heart of gold.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: Randall and Karen Smith of Mosheim, Brent and Beverly Smith, Keith Smith, Gary and Cindy Smith, all of Greeneville; daughter: Elaine Smith Dolan of Greeneville; grandchildren: Lorraine (Chuck) Furtner of Knoxville, Amy Miller of Greeneville, Jennifer (Allen) Bird of Jonesborough, Rance (Tonya) Smith of Gray, Bryan Smith, Sean Dolan and Scott Dolan of Greeneville; great grandchildren: Tabatha Bird, and Randa Bird of Johnson City, Mercedez Miller, Alexis Gray, Kelsie Smith and Lucas Smith of Greeneville, and Savannah Furtner of Knoxville; several special nieces and nephews; sister: Lilly Dahlstron of Rockford, Illinois; brothers: Tore (Ginny) Johnson of La Cresenta, California, and Teddy (Evie) Johnson of Bradenton, Florida; and the families of her late special girlfriends: Birdee Hodges of Rockford, Illinois, Colleen Carter of Greeneville, and Tootsie Gilbert of Greeneville.

She was the daughter of the late August and Ester Johnson and was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years: T. Kyle “Pappy” Smith; brother: Gust Johnson; sister: Dolores Johnson; and an infant brother.

The family wishes to thank the medical staff of Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Dr. Andy Roberts and staff, the staff of Life Care Center of Greeneville, and the staff of Smokey Mountain Home Health and Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Gary Hall and Rev. Jeremy Arnold officiating.

Interment will follow in Prices Cemetery in Romeo.

Her pallbearers will be Allen Bird, Bryan Smith, Sean Dolan, Scott Dolan, Andrew Gorham, and Zachary Ptacek.

Rance Smith, Chuck Furtner, Mike Dugger, and Steve Luttrell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
