- 2 Timothy 4:7
Gladys Waddell Hamilton, 89, of the Mohawk community, left this life and entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
Gladys graduated from Mosheim High School. She was a beloved Mother who raised her children, and when left with an empty nest decided she wanted to drive a school bus. She worked as a Greene County school bus driver for 28 years and during that time helped love and guide many Greene County students.
Gladys loved her Lord most of all, and never missed an opportunity to share that with whomever she met. She loved her church family, Beulah Baptist Church, and could always be found there when the door was open. She loved her family in a way that made each one feel like they were the most special person in the world. She loved Lady Vol basketball and attended all the home games during the season, and she loved her Atlanta Braves. She will be sorely missed!
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Daniel Scott Hamilton, as well as two sons, Roger and Russell Hamilton (Karen), her parents George & Jeannie Waddell, brothers Bruce Waddell and Lloyd Waddell and sisters Ruth Grocott, Lucille Gillette, Elizabeth Wooten, and Thelma Wisecarver, and a very special brother-in-law Billie Keasling.
Survivors include a daughter Regina Cox (Ned); Grandchildren Alexis Arnold (Brian), Alex Cox (Sarah), and Chasta Hamilton (John); great grandchildren Cole, Claire & Cora Arnold and Sebastian ”Bash” Millsaps; a sister Barbara Keasling and brother-in-law Frank Gillette, several nieces, nephews, and two very special friends: Joan Fincher and Cindy Waddle.
Visitation will take place at Kiser-Rose Hill on Friday, September 15 from 6:00-8:00pm.
The funeral service will be at Kiser-Rose Hill on Saturday, September 16 at 10:00am.
