Guy David Darnell

The Lord took him home Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 1:30pm.

He was a former employee of Austin Co. and MECO; he was also a farmer.

Mr. Darnell was a member of Mt. Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.

His pride and joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years: Faye Darnell; daughter and son-in-law: Charlene and Doyle Carter; three sons and daughters-in-law: Kenneth and Rhonda Darnell, Jerry and Barbara Darnell, Danny and Sharon Darnell; grandchildren: Daniel Darnell, Misty Prokop, Justine Darnell and wife Cheree, Christina Stratton and husband Kevin, Danielle Walker, Michael Darnell and wife Emily, Jonathan Darnell and friend Jana Jorden, Jesse Darnell; great grandchildren: Trent Darnell, Jayden Darnell, Ashlyn Darnell, Josh Prokop, Braden Prokop, Madelin Darnell, Bryson Ricker, Julia Waddle, Adrianna Waddle; sister-in-law: Geraldine Darnell; two brothers-in-law: Walter Kelley and Don Shipley; several nieces and nephews; and very special friends and family: Dr. Drew “Chip” McFarland (who was his family physician), special nurse for family: Joyce Cosson, nurses and staff of Laughlin Health Care, nurses of 4 West and ICU at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

He was the son of the late David and Clara Wilhoit Darnell and was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Samantha Darlene Darnell; six sisters: Myrtle Shipley, Sylvia Johnson, Daisy Parkins, Carrie Kelley, Alice Darnell, Zuella Kelley; and five brothers: Junior Darnell, George Darnell, Vance Darnell, Eugene Darnell, and Pearson Darnell.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8pm Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Mt. Bethel Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Perry, Rev. Buster Shelton, and Rev. Claude Swatzell officiating. The body will be taken to the church at Noon Saturday for the funeral service.

Interment will follow in Harris Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Darnell, Clayton Darnell, Daniel Darnell, Tony Roe, Randy Roberts, Daryl Cantrell, and Thomas Quillen.

Hugh Allen Davis and members of Mt. Bethel FWB Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Rahul Sakhuja, Dr. Charles Montgomery, Dr. Joseph Scott, Dr. Steven Prince, and Dr. Luke Ellenburg.
