He retired after 23 years in the U. S. Air Force and after working 15 years as a postal worker in Marietta, GA.
Mr. Baskette was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife: Donna Baskette; daughter: Nikki Baskette and fiancé, Garth Jennings of Hutto, TX; a son: Jim Baskette of Pensacola, FL; one brother and sister-in-law: John and Rosie Baskette of Petaluma, CA; three sisters and a brother-in-law: Charlotte Austin Isaacs of Kingsport, Darlyne Lewis of Greeneville, Edythe and Maynard Emmette of Chuckey; a special brother-in-law and “best buddy”: Carl Gentry of Limestone; fourteen nieces and nephews;
several great nieces and great nephews.
He was the son of the late James Henry and Maxy Baskette and was preceded in death by three
sisters: Geneva Harville, Helen Droke, Joyce Gentry; one brother: W. C. Baskette; a nephew:
Steve Gentry.
The funeral service will be held at 7 pm Sunday, November 10, 2013, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel.
Rev. Gary Gentry will officiate. Interment will be 11 am Monday, at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Blue Emmette, John Baskette, Mark Collier, Isaac Morgan, Jennifer Hensley, Kathy Baskette, Brad Gentry and Mike Seaton III.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Emmette, Joe Emmette, David Emmette, Michael Emmette, Marilyn Preston, Barbara Morgan, Brenda Seaton and Missy Utley.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 5-7 pm Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Family and friends are asked to meet at 10 am Monday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
