Jay Rufus Rupert

He retired from the Greeneville Water Department.

Mr. Rupert was a member of Kingsley Avenue Free Will Baptist Church, where he attended as long as his health permitted.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Judy Rupert Fillers and husband, Terry, and Belindia Rupert Pruett and husband, Mark; two grandsons whom he loved dearly: Tanner Pruett and girlfriend, Jannai Bullard, and Taylor Pruett and wife, Chelsea; a sister: Nellie Gray Keller; special family members: Ottis and Emma Lou Haney and Kline and Wanda Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the son of the late Dink and Lockie Rupert and was preceded in death by his wife: Joanne Rupert; stepmother, Josie Rupert; a brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Vera Rupert; sisters and brothers-in-law: Lizzie Kate and Clifford Fannon, Jenneppie and Jack Haney, Mary Ruth and Cecil Inscore, Mable Lee and Chester Sams, Anna Laura Rupert; and a brother-in-law, James Keller.

The family will receive friends 3-6 pm Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 6 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Doyle Pruett officiating.

Interment will be 10 am Tuesday at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at 9 am Tuesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery for the committal service.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Taylor Pruett and Tanner Pruett, sons-in-law, Terry Fillers and Mark Pruett, and Troy Cutshall and Denny Franklin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ottis Haney, Lloyd Holt, Harold Murray, Kenneth Lamb, and the staff of Life Care Center of Gray.
