Linda Fields

She was a loving mother and wife.

Linda was born in Brookhaven, Long Island, New York and grew up in the town of Port Jefferson, N.Y. She graduated from Earl L. Vandermeulen High School in 1966. On May 29,1971, she married her husband of 53 years, Ronald Nelson Fields.

Soon after graduating, she began a lifelong career in clinical patient care working in hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, and private home care. She had a passion for helping and caring for others with a special place in her heart for those in their golden years. She enjoyed the stories, friendships, and wisdom passed on to her from her patients and would in turn share that with others. To Linda, her patients were extended family.

She moved to Chuckey with her husband Ronald and her three sons in 1983 to a house on Old Forge Road tucked away in the scenic Cherokee National Forest. She enjoyed being nestled in the woods and the beauty that surrounded her mountain home. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and word search games. She loved to travel and, with her husband Ron, enjoyed a multi-month trip around the U.S. and Canada with the pop-up camper in tow. She was especially fond of Glacier National Park and Nova Scotia, Canada. She enjoyed going back to her roots and visiting the beaches and the lighthouse where she would spend her summers in Amagansett & Montauk, N.Y.

Linda is survived by sons: Jeffrey Fields of Limestone, Thomas Fields of Montauk, New York, and Ron Fields Jr. of Mosheim; a daughter-in-law: Rachel Fields of Mosheim; in addition to other extended relatives in New York, Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Ronald Nelson Fields; her father: John Theodore Maxner; and her mother: Florence Elizabeth Maxner, both of Amagansett, N.Y., a brother: Robert Maxner of Mount Morris, N.Y., and a sister Carole Maxner of Port Jefferson, N.Y.

No formal services will be held.
