

Mrs. Harmon graduated from Camp Creek High School in 1941 and Draughns Business College in 1942. She earned her Certified Professional Secretaries rating and was a charter member of Professional Secretaries Association of Greeneville. Most of her career was spent in government services including Holston Ordinance, County Agent Office, UT Tobacco Experiment Station, Tennessee Valley Authority and Social Security Administration. She had a passion for Tennessee history and genealogy. Mrs. Harmon served as Greene County Historian and was active in the Heritage Trust Organization and was a member of First Families of Tennessee
.
She was a member of River Hill United Methodist Church where she held various positions in the church. She was very active in the River Hill Cemetery Association.
Survivors include one sister and brother-in-law: Catherine and Bob Brown of Greene County; three sisters-in-law: Gladys Renner, Birdie Harmon, and Mary Lou McCamey; a brother-in-law: Buck Jones; a godson: Rustin Jones; nieces, nephews and spouses: Glenna and Butch Hicks, Carolyn and Alan Eldridge, Joan and Al Romanowski, Linda and Dean Tweed, Charles and Susie Jones, Bobby and Mitzi Brown, David and Linda Harmon, Susan Masters Payne; several great nieces and nephews; and several great great nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of the late Dana and Lula Renner and was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Harmon; a sister, Dorothy Jones; a brother, Glenn Renner; and her nephew/godson, Randy Brown.
The family will receive friends 2-7 pm Sunday and 12 -1 pm Monday.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 1 pm Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Stewart Albee officiating.
Interment will follow in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Jones, Bobby Brown, David Harmon, Butch Hicks, Al Romanowski, Alan Eldridge and Dean Tweed.
Honorary pallbearers are Kris and John Lucchesi, Cy Hawk, Eben and Melissa Jones, Jason and Kristie Brown, Frank and Michelle Jones, Lance and Melissa Eldridge, Whitney and Matt Comer, Leslie and Matt Sheridan, Rustin and Casey Jones, Leonard and Cori Ingle, Neal and Lori Grabner, Muriel Thompson, Ruby Hartman, Mark Galloway, Dr. John Shaw and the old “Camp Creek Bunch”.
