Phyllis Ann Muncy

Mrs. Muncy was a retired baker at Laughlin Hospital.

Her family noted, "Phyllis was a loving wife to her late husband, Johnnie, for almost 52 years. She was a hard-working faithful mother to her four children, loving grandmother, and faithful friend.”

She was a long-standing member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully while she could. She enjoyed singing in the choir and spending time with her family. All of her family and friends will miss her dearly.

Survivors include: three sons and their wives: Randy and Lin Muncy of Chester, Va., Michael and Michele Muncy of Johnstown, Colo., and Jeff and Sharon Muncy of Greeneville; a daughter and son-in-law: Julie and Terry Bailey of Chuckey; 20 grandchildren: Rebecca, Micala , Johnie , Paul, Myriah, Benjamin, Bethany, April, Michael, Levi, Breanne, Mark, Melissa, Mikendrah, Nathan, Miranda, Christi, Emily, Myleah, and Amy and several grandchildren-in-law and 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Loneda, Linda, Trudy, and Betty; and one brother, Frank, and their spouses, as well four surviving sisters in law and two brothers in law and their spouses and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Muncy, her parents, J.C. and Ethel Johnston, and a great-grandson, Noah Muncy.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 8pm Thursday. The Rev. John Buchanan and the Rev. Terry Bailey will officiate.

Interment will be in the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery at 11am Friday. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Spear, Johnny Mac Brown, Kernie Moses, and the men of Liberty FWB Church.

A special thanks to the loving caregivers: Sharon Muncy, Bernice Ward, Tom and Carol Spear, and the staffs of Wellington Place and Durham Hensley.
