Robert loved being outdoors, and he was always seen wearing his cowboy hat and western shirts. You may have seen him early in the morning sitting on his front porch drinking coffee and watching the traffic on Kingsport Highway. Working in his yard and garden which he took pride in. He loved his horses, his dog and every animal in-between. Perhaps you saw him or were a part of doing what he loved the most, and that was sitting under the ole shade tree, listening to the radio and having his daughters and family visiting, especially his grandkids.
Robert was often called “Cowboy” but to us he was Dad and Grandpa.
He was a retired security guard at Plus Mark.
He was preceded in death by his wife Millie Akins; a brother, Mac Akins and parents Warren Akins and Eula Lee Lewis.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 am to 12 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery.
