

He was a retired truck driver.
Mr. Greer attended McCarty United Methodist Church.
During his amazing life, he took various routes, including computer tech analyst and truck driver. His first love was his music.
He began taking percussion lessons at 6 years of age. He graduated Greeneville High School and was a member of the band. He had a full music scholarship to UT Knoxville and was a member of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band as well as a member of the jazz band and Knoxville Symphony Orchestra.
He was a founding member of the Absinthe Gray Band. He was an outstanding percussionist who inspired many of his fellow musicians with his dynamic approach.
Survivors include his aunt: Hattie Wykle; sister: Evelyn Greer; daughter: Sami Jo Wood-Greer; fiancé: Karen Shirk; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Rube and Trudy Greer; an infant sister; and grandparents: John Conley and Cordie Greer.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 13, 2016, at McCarty United Methodist Church with Rev. Sarah Wells officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McCarty United Methodist Church, 104 McCarty Church Road, Telford, TN 37690.
