

He retired from Yellow Freight.
Mr. Tigner was a member of Limestone Free Will Baptist Church where he attended as long as his health permitted. He was very active in church, being involved in the senior citizen ministry, a bus driver, singing in the choir, and always willing to help others.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years: Jane Tigner; sons and daughters-in-law: Bob Tigner, Ray and Pam Tigner, Jim and Brenda Tigner, Mike and Donna Tigner; daughters and son-in-law: Janice Slabaugh, Cindy and Derwin Morris; stepsons: Bob Hicks and wife, Carrie, David Hicks; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters: Hazel Shafer and Dorothy Belford; several nieces and nephews; special friends: Rodney and Bobbie Bailey.
He was the son of the late Floyd and Sarah Tigner and was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jay Morris and Maire Morris; sisters, Flora Johnson and Maxine Dryer; brothers: Bill, Paul and Jim Tigner.
The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Rodney Bailey and Rev. Tim Roach officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Tusculum.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice for their kindness of heart and loving care.
The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
