Annunziata "Nancy" (née Sorbara) Pezzano

Born September 24, 1923, in San Giorgio Morgeto, Italy, Annunziata was the beloved wife of the late Vincenzo Pezzano (1981).

Loving mother of Caterina Daniel (Marcello), the late Franca Palermo (late Nick), Giacomina Seminara (Michele) of Italy, Natalina Mammoliti (Angelo), Mike Pezzano (Rita), Domenica Giovinazzo (Oreste), Frank Pezzano (Bobbie), Sam Pezzano, Tony Pezzano (Patricia), and Morris Pezzano (Denise).

Proud and loving Nonna to her 20 grandchildren: Linda, Nadia, Sonia, Piera, Nancy, Andrea and Roberto of Italy, John, Lisa, Enzo, Victoria, Joseph, Sarah, Michael, Andrea, Stefanie, Doug, Matthew, Kayla and Karli and their partners. She will also be lovingly remembered as Bis-Nonna to her 14 great-grandchildren.

Annunziata was the daughter of the late Francesco and Francesca Sorbara. She is survived by her siblings, Jenny Sergejew and Natalina Valeriote, and many nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by her siblings Michele Sorbara, Antonio Sorbara, Stella Pronesti and Cathy Iluk.

Born and raised in San Giorgio Morgeto, Calabria, Italy, Annunziata and Vincenzo later made the journey to Canada, where she and her family built a new life while holding close the traditions, religious faith and values of their Italian heritage. On September 1, 1971, much of the family arrived in Canada aboard the SS Cristoforo Colombo, beginning an important new chapter in their lives.

Annunziata’s life was centered around her family and her religious faith. As the beloved matriarch of her family, she found joy in bringing generations of her family together and preserving the traditions she brought with her from Italy. Her family will remember her cooking, gardening and sewing, as well as the cherished traditions of making homemade tomato sauce and wine. Her home was a place where family gathered, food was shared, traditions were passed from one generation to the next, and faith remained an important part of everyday life.

After more than a century of life, Annunziata leaves behind an extraordinary legacy in the family she raised and the generations that followed her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends in Canada, Italy, and Australia.

Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday August 31, 2026 from 2-4 PM and from 6-9 PM. Vigil prayers will be held at 7:00 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday September 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM.

Interment at Marymount Cemetery, Guelph.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Radio Maria Canada, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated by the family.
