Bruna Marie (nee Pagnan) Cavasin passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025, in her 98th year. She was a gracious sister, respectful daughter, loving wife, nurturing mother, benevolent Zia, doting Nona and supportive colleague and friend, who touched the lives of many.
Born on October 28th, 1927, in Dominion, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, to immigrant Italian parents Giuseppe and Narcisa (nee Botter) Pagnan, Bruna built a life centered on love, faith, family and compassion. She was known for her unwavering tenacity, her dedication to keeping a neat and tidy home, and her deep, unconditional faith and love for family and friends. At the young age of 18, Bruna joined the CWL at Sacred Heart Church. When St. John's Roman Catholic Parish was established, Bruna and sister-in-law Delia King were instrumental of forming a CW group that she remained as a life-long member. Her involvement led to 50+ years of funeral tea receptions in the school gym, penny table sales, volunteer work, and religious outings, as well as a member with her husband on the Parish Social Committee - organizing and operating - themed dances, spaghetti suppers, picnics, and the annual Bazaar.
Bruna, a masterful backseat driver, she always had a watchful eye on the road, and a list of errands for one of her children to taxi her about town. And if not scooping a grocery deal for her family or a nearby relative, you'd find her in her favorite place at home baking or cooking far more than anyone could possibly eat. A pot of 'the Soup Du Jour' was always on a back burner, and a rum cake was always under the tin dome desert container, on the kitchen table, for a drop-in visitor.
Bruna is now reunited with the love of her life Charlie (Ricardo) Cavasin, and her beloved children Raymond and Marlene. We are confident she is sharing laughter and joy with them - and reminding them to make sure their beds are made with immaculate hospital corners.
Bruna is survived by her son Wayne (Abbie) Cavasin and her grandchildren Cassandra and Matthew. They will cherish her memory and continue to honour the love they shared.
Relatives and friends are invited to Gilbert Macintyre & Son Funeral Home - Hart Chapel (1099 Gordon Street, Guelph) for Visitation on Monday March 10, 2025, from 10:00-12:00PM. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 12:00PM in the funeral home chapel.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
