Ed Kitchen

Edgar (Ed) Lloyd Kitchen now watches over his family and loving wife Fran of 56 years of marriage. Proud father of Robbie and Vicki Kitchen, Kerrie and John Heffernan and Shannon and John O’Keefe. Treasured Popa of Griffin, Paige, Tanner, Jack, Klay, Patrick, Nathan,Matthew, Olivia, John, Nikki and Stacia along with precious great grandchildren and his little buddy Freckles.

Ed lived with passion and perseverance to be with his family for as long as possible while dealing with Mesothelioma for the last four years. The courage he displayed throughout his journey will never be forgotten, and the love of his family and self taught “nurse” and best friend Fran most definitely kept his fight going for a remarkably long time.

He taught us the value of laughter through his infectious smile and hardworking ways. He prided himself with his distinguished trucking career of over 30 years of safe driving record. He mentored us on the importance of punctuality, good directions, bungee cords, saving coins, feeding the birds, storytelling, brown sugar and keeping belly laughs and drinks for everyday celebrations.

Although the lump in our throats won’t stay down we will remember that when you feel darkness, you can still give light. His spirit is shining through us, and the best of him- is in us. His earthly presence will be missed.

Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph. Family invite friends to a visitation on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice Wellington would be appreciate by the family.
