

She excelled academically, earned a nursing scholarship to Victoria Hospital in London, and trained as a Registered Nurse. She built her early career in the operating room, eventually becoming Head Nurse, and was known for her commitment to hands on patient care.
She married her husband, Robert, of nearly 60 years, a physician, and together they lived in small Ontario communities before moving to Guelph and raising their two sons, Douglas and Cameron. Evelyn was active in her church and community, enjoyed gardening, curling, choir, birding, travel, and was well known for her baking—especially her pies.
Evelyn was a devoted grandmother to Kate, Charles, Laura, and Owen, taking great interest in their activities and milestones. She will be remembered for her lifelong dedication to caring for others and her ability to connect easily with people throughout every stage of her life.
Family and Friends will be received at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will then be held in the chapel at 12:00 p.m. followed by a reception.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Guelph General Hospital and St. Joseph's Health Centre Guelph for their professional and considerate care. As expressions of sympathy, the family kindly requests that donations be made to GGH or a community or charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
