Jay was the proud father of John (Claire) and Michael (Reagan), and a loving grandfather to Madelaine, Brady, Benjamin, and Lexy, who brought him endless joy. He is also remembered by his sister, Linda (Allan), and his nephews, Paul and Scott.
Born and raised in Port Dover, Jay spent many years as the President of Ivey Flowers Inc.,where he continued overseeing the family business started by his grandfather. Later in life, he worked as a custodian at a local school bringing a friendly spirit to everyone he met.
He found his greatest happiness at the family cottage in Sundridge, where he enjoyed fishing, boating and relaxing by the BBQ. In his younger years, he loved driving his Camaro and ‘shooting pool’. Jay also rarely missed cheering on his beloved Toronto Blue Jays.
Jay will be remembered for his good nature, kind, fun-loving personality, and the warmth and laughter he brought to every gathering. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Private cremation. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society in memory of Jay would be appreciated by the family. For condolences and donations, please visit www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com
