Eugene left this world unexpectedly, leaving a deep void in the lives of those closest to him.
Born on December 23, 1963, Eugene was the beloved son of the late Henry and Christena Honeywell. He was a father to Mathew (Megan), a brother, uncle to several nieces and nephews, and a grandfather to Austin. He was predeceased by his loving brother, Hanzel Honeywell, and his great-niece, Krystle Honeywell.
Eugene shared a unique and cherished relationship with his niece, Starlyn, who will deeply miss his presence. Eugene was known for his genuine humour and especially for his legendary tales of him and his brother, Hanzel, roughing up other people when they were younger—stories that always ended in laughter and reinforced their unbreakable bond.
His lifelong passion was fishing, which led to many entertaining stories of fish caught. His characteristic joking nature shone through: he often stated that when his time came, he wanted to be brought all the way up Mount Everest. The family wants it known that in accordance with his wishes, we will try and get him to the top of Everest (though only in spirit, of course!).
The family extends deep gratitude to Dee and Cathy at St. Joseph Villa for their kindness, and to Kimberly for her compassionate and unwavering support during his final years. Eugene's family is grateful for the love, companionship, and care she provided.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has already taken place.
While we grieve his sudden loss, we take comfort in knowing Eugene’s spirit will live on. As Eugene often embodied the sentiment, we know that now "You've got to kiss an angel good morning."
May he find eternal peace, perhaps reaching the highest peak, and then resting on the calmest waters where the fish are always biting.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Eugene’s honour may be made to The War Amps of Canada.
